Rick Rolls.

The art of Rick Rolling is an internet prank. It is widely used among kids on the internet expecting a cheap laugh. Rick Roll victims usually get pissed off and start cussing and flaming. I do not mind being Rick Roll’d, I do actually enjoy it. The only bad part, is closing the damn thing. When you try to close or navigate away from it, small pop up windows pop up one after another after you click them with the lyrics to the song, “Never Gonna Give You Up”, by Rick Astley, 1987.

The basis of the Rick Roll page is an embedded Flash video of the 1987 Rick Astley song, “Never gonna give you up“. The video repeats itself after every finish of the song, and will play an infinite amount of times. There is usually a taunt on screen, usually saying, “YOU GOT RICK ROLL’D!”. Immediately after opening page, the window will rieduce in size, and will orbit around the four corners of your computer screen for 3 times.

To get out of a Rick Roll, one way is to press Control + Alt+ Delete, go to task manager, go to applications, and end the browser. The song and video usually agitates most people, but I actually enjoy it. The lyrics to the song are here:

I’ve added another way to get out of Rick Rolls. When using Firefox, use the Web Developer tool bar. Here. Go to “Disable”, and disable JavaScript. Or, the less fun way, go to Tools in Firefox, Go to Content, and uncheck, “Enable JavaScript”. And you should be able to close the Rick Roll.
